The Ironton Rail Trail is a converted railroad track. The railraod was used from 1860 through 1996 and was abandoned in 1984. In 1996 the track was purchased and re-purposed, the track is now a paved path located just north of Whitehall. The trail is a total of 9.2 miles and includes a 5.5 mile loop. The 3,002-acre Beltzville State Park is in the southern foothills of the Poconos. Pohopoco Creek, an excellent trout stream, feeds the 949-acre Beltzville Lake, which is a rest stop for migrating waterfowl and is a destination for boaters and anglers. This is an excellent local park for all ages.
It has an area for younger children that has rubber mulch in a contained area under a set a swings, the play set, 2 big plastic dinosaurs, and a 'tunnel' system. There is also a gazebo and another swing set on the grass the surrounds the area.
