The Ironton Rail Trail is a converted railroad track. The railraod was used from 1860 through 1996 and was abandoned in 1984.  In 1996 the track was purchased and re-purposed, the track is now a paved path located just north of Whitehall. The trail is a total of 9.2 miles and includes a 5.5 mile loop. Pets on leashes are permitted. The Trail is open to bikers and rollerbladers, walkers and runners. Covered Bridge Park is the largest park in South Whitehall Township. Pavilions are available for special event and party rentals for a $100 fee for non-residents and $25 fee for residents of the township.  Reservations must be made through the township in person at the township office during their business hours (8am-4pm).
